Background
Investigating BeReal's pain points that caused major drop-off rates and how the user interface can be redesigned to be more engaging. This semester-long project encouraged me to design features that are both nuanced and still usable at their core.

Project Scope
Aimed to find which design principles could be enforced into BeReal's mobile's interface to increase user intrest.

Initial Research
Deconstructed user flows of the original BeReal app and interviewed past and current users to gather insights on their experience.
Affinity Mapping
Organized common themes and challenges shared by interviewees during initial research.
Wireframing
Redesigned low-fidelity wireframes of BeReal's mapping feature to have new features such as a private and public toggle.
User Testing
Interviewed 15 users through in-person interviews observing how they nagiated the low-fi prototypes.
Identified Pain Points
Collected user feedback and identified key pain points:
– UI felt cluttered due to feature overload
– Explore page was somewhat confusing
– Camera “roulette” feature was poorly received
High-Fidelity Prototype
Excluded unused features addressed in the common pain points and developed fully functioning prototype at the final product presentation.
